Senior Sales Account Manager – Middle East

A fast growing, fast-paced and dynamic company developing Windows exploration, development and reservoir software for the oil and gas industry, seeks a Senior Sales Account Manager to manage all of their sales and business development activities in the Middle East. Applicants are invited with some sales account or/and business development management experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. Great opportunity to play a key role in directing and influencing the future growth of the Company within the Middle East.

The Company was the first in the market to develop geoscience interpretation tools for Windows NT and is now placed as the global leaders of Windows based software for exploration and production. The software is widely used by geoscientists across major to small oil companies in 95 countries.

The Company has a large client base globally, offices in all major oil capitals, a strong management team, excellent operational and support staff, leading edge integrated geoscience technology suite, and most importantly committed finances, and are strategically ready for major expansion.

Sales are currently managed from other offices, but due to business growth and potential, a dedicated sales account manager is now required. You will be focus on managing existing client accounts whilst developing new business opportunities in all of the major oil and service companies throughout the Middle East region. You will be fully supported by technical and administrative personnel.


Responsibilities: Reporting to the Regional VP – Middle East you will be expected to:
• Become competent in the Company’s full suite of software solutions.
• Build relationships of trust with key personnel in all of the existing major accounts in the Middle East. Understand their challenges, constraints and business and technical workflows.
• Be proactive in identifying potential business in new major oil or service companies.
• Be accountable for developing relationships at the highest level, from Finance, Exploration & Production Managers to technical Service Delivery Managers.
• Identify new business opportunities within these accounts for software sales, consultancy onsite services and training.
• Develop a business development plan defining objectives and strategies that will meet business goals in the short and long term.
• Devise and negotiate winning proposals for new business.
• Participate in the regional strategic planning process incorporating your business objectives and finances for major accounts.
• Work closely with the existing sales team, sharing market information and supporting each other through this expansion period.
• Become focal contact for the Company within all major accounts in your regions.
• Where possible, you will demonstrate the Company’s technologies. As required you will liaise with the Company’s technical support team to ensure the successful management of your account activities and gain assistance as required, i.e. presentations, evaluations, training, sales proposals, and after sales follow-up.
• Keep current and provide and communicate accurate and timely sales forecasts.
• Keep abreast of industry and Company software developments and trends. Seek out, analyze and communicate market intelligence. Feedback client recommendations effectively.
• Liaise effectively with staff in other regional offices and headquarters in Houston, Texas as required.
• Attend relevant industry exhibitions and conferences to represent and promote Company business.
• Working with the required personnel within the organisation to devise effective marketing strategies to support your sales plan, to increase awareness and reputation of the Company and solutions offered.
• Keep abreast of industry best practice, trends and challenges relating to geoscience software, training and consultancy practices. Keep abreast of activities within your existing and potential client accounts – new discoveries, shifts in work practices, new frontiers…

With some experience selling to the upstream industry and the enthusiasm and ambition to drive new business development, you will play a key role in directing and influencing the future growth of the Company within the Middle East. You will be given a great deal of scope and autonomy to deliver results. The role is ideal for an entrepreneur preferably with a geotechnical background who enjoys the challenge and excitement of developing business.


Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
• Degree in an earth science or business related subject essential. Geophysical background desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years oil and gas industry experience essential.
• Minimum of 3 years Sales/BDM experience in the oil and gas industry essential.
• Previous experience working in the Middle East highly desirable.
• Clear understanding of the upstream oil and gas industry and geoscience workflows essential.
• Strong commercial acumen – the ability to devise, monitor, manage and communicate sales plans and forecasts effectively.
• The ability to demonstrate technical solutions preferred (but support provided), and articulate value propositions to clients.
• Experience in using or knowledge of some mainstream geoscience software solutions desirable (e.g. Kingdom, Landmark, Schlumberger software).
• Strong interpersonal skills - with the ability to develop good working relationships with clients essential.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills as you will participate in executive level meetings with clients.
• Enthusiasm and drive to keep abreast of new trends and technologies in this market.
• Dynamic, self-motivated individual who is proactive to achieve and exceed targets. Strong team player who can work with all levels within the company to accomplish goals.
• Highly flexible with proactive approach to tasks.
• Enthusiasm, drive and ambition to succeed.
• Ability to travel.

Package: An attractive Base Salary with competitive commission plan plus Company Benefits is on offer, dependent on skills and experience.
